Beds Police Student Challenge-Knife Crime advert

In December Bedfordshire Police invited some of our pupils to a workshop on knife crime.

The Chief Constable and The Police and Crime Commissioner for Bedfordshire have both identified knife crime as an important issue for the young people of the county and asked us to send representatives from Alameda Middle  toact as ambassadors on the issue once they return to school. The pupils involved were: G Curl, M Tuck, E Wright, A Minards, S Pearce, J Heverin, A Henry, J Morris and S Galler.

During the workshop, students were taught about knife crime and the dangers surrounding it. They also learnt various different facts and figures about the dangers both within the UK and the local area. Students were then given the opportunity to create a radio advert. This advert had to include what they had learn about knife crime but also had to be creative and deliver a persuasive message. The adverts created were then entered into a competition - Bedfordshire Police Student Challenge. I’m delighted to tell you that one of our adverts has made it through to the final stage of the competition.  Only 20 ads have made it to this stage so it’s a huge credit to the students and their creativity that they have made it this far.

The final stage of the competition is to see how many views we can get for the advert by sharing it with friends, family and the wider world.

The video is part of this YouTube playlist:

The competition launches this Friday 9th February and closes two weeks later at 5pm on Friday 23rd February.  The school/college with the most views will receive a trophy, will have their advert played on the radio and also used by Bedfordshire Police in future communication with young people.

Please have a listen of the advert, like, share and promote the efforts our students.
